-- It is possible that the Joh. Christian REDEL that married 1) Catharina is different from the one that married 2) Eva Maria HÜLFFERT, but interestingly, his approxiamted birth date from the FIRST marriage is PRECISELY the same as his calculated birth date from his DEATH ENTRY. This is most likely the same person. Occupation is listed as bricklayer for both Johann Christian REDELs. Listed as a citizen in 1722.
-- In the death books for Wittenberg is an entry made for one of the sons of Johan Christian REDEL. Death book 1715-39, p. 300, 1 May 1724 buried, 29 Apr died: "Christian Redels, Mäuer gesellens Söhnlein, ist mit der 4t(e)l Schule bey ges:". Not sure which son of Christian's died. Also, entry of anther son, same death book, p. 490, died 12 Mar 1729, buried 15 Mar 1729, entry exactly the same except unique details. It is confusing, however. The first death could be either Johann Christian or Daniel. The second son who died could be either Johann Christian, Daniel, or Johann Gottfried.

So basically, he searched 1714-1718 for marriage record of Johann Christian Redel inWittenberg, but coudln't find anything. Need to do some more checking probably from 1708-1713, just to rule out the marriage all together -- SRE, 17 June 2002.

-- Sent a letter to Bad Schmiedeberg parish to find Eva Maria's birth, her parents's marriage, and her siblings' births -- SRE, 27 Apr 2002.
-- Received a reply dated 18 Jun 2002. The priest, Paul Helga?, apparently found other children of Johann Jacob Hülfert, though no record of Eva Maria herself. Her mother's name was Maria Elisabeth. Since she had no other children and died in 1772, perhaps she was unable to have any after her last we have record of, born in 1754. Was she perhaps born before her parents moved to Bad Schmiedeberg? Average age of menopause would is 50.5, so her birth year might be 1703/4. This would put her a bit closer to her husband's age than my originally estimated birth date (1720), which is fine. Perhaps her parents came from another parish. This fits in with her parents' marriage not being found (Was this actually searched for? Didn't mention in letter whether this had been looked for or not -- may need to send more money) in Bad Schmiedeberg parish (though it may also have taken place elsewhere in any case). Couldn't find any METZELTSs in OI main file or '97 addendum at all.Couldn't find the locality Wuerzen anywhere in Brandenburg in gazeteers in SLC. Attendant there said I should try looking for this woman's former husband's death in the same parish earlier.
