SIDL/SIEDL/SIEDL
Hausmann in Scharbartz 4 Pf.St.Christophen

LOG/NOTES:
-- Could this person's father possibly be Martin SIEDL from Palling, Stößing parish, with sister Theresia and mother Elisabeth? This should very definitely be checked out. It is very possible that this is not the case, however, since there many Siedl's around. Just something to verify. See if there is a Michael SIEDL born to such a family -- 25 Sep 2002, SRE.
-- No. Research in May 2003 indicates he was married in Ollersbach parish and that his father was Lorenz Siedler -- SRE, 28 May 2003.

Michael HASENZAGL

Diözesanarchiv St.Pölten
SIEDEL/SIDL/SIDEL
Behauster Bindermeister in Kirchstetten Pf.Ollerbach

OCCUPATION: Bindermeister.

RESIDENCE: Schrabatz nr. 4. From marriage to 5th child, Katharina, lived in Oberndorf 5, Ollersbach parish. After that, Kirchstetten 19, Ollersbach parish.

LOG/NOTES:
-- Heiligeneich parish should be checked for marriage, as well as birth of first few children. This should hopefully tell us which parish Michael Hasenzagl came from, which will be a boon to extending that line -- SRE, 28 May 2003.
-- Comments from Martina Gamper's research report of 21 May 2003: "Leider gibt es in den Büchern tom. 2 bzw. tom 3 der Pfarre Ollersbach keinen weiteren Eintrag zu „Hasenzagl“. Es läßt sich allerdings aus den Tauf- und Eheeinträgen der Kinder ebenfalls nicht auf den Herkunftsort von Michael Hasenzagl schließen. Vielleicht könnte in weiteren Forschungen der Sterbeeintrag Aufschluß geben." = "Unfortunately, in the books, i.e., v. 2-3 of Ollersbach parish, there are no further references to "Hasenzagl". Also, the birth and marriage entries of the children don't show the place of origin of Michael Hasenzagl. Perhaps in further research, death entries would shed further light."
-- Had originally put this down as marriage and birth places: of, Kirchstetten, Ollersbach, or, Schrabatz,, Niederösterreich, Österreich -- SRE, 28 May 2003.
-- Checked for Hasenzagl marriage in Diözesanarchiv and didn't find our marraige. Checked the "marriages to 1783" index. Also, checked marriage index from 1784 on. Didn't find anything, so not sure of where this line will go. Looks like a dead end at this point. Checking indexes and books at Diözesnarchiv St. Pölten, 8 Sep 2003, SRE.
-- Checked for marriage in Böheimkirchen. Nix, SRE, 9 Sep 2003.
— Checked for this person in indexes for baptism and marriage books 1/2 and 2/2 respectively, of Michelbach parish, which both run from 1722 to 1784. Found nothing, SRE - 10 Sep 2003.

Magdalena BALDAUF

LOG/NOTES:
-- In her kids' birth entries (and daughter, Anna Maria's marriage), her name is listed as "Baldaufin", but in her own marriage record, she is listed as "Buraner". Puchgenbach)" = "Anna Maria, born to Michael Hasenzagl, master (grain) binder? at Kirchstetten, wife Magdalena, born to Johann Buraner (in birth entry: Baldauf)... It is also noteworthy that in the marriage entry of Anna Maria, instead of Magdalena Baldauf, Magdalena Buraner is indicated as the mother. I checked this fact twice, but kept coming back to the name "Buraner". Perhaps Michael Hasenzagl comes from the same parish as Magdalena Baldauf (parish Puchgenbach)" [It is actually not Puchgenbach, as far as I can tell, but Heiligenaich], SRE, 28 May 2003.
-- Report from Inge Höferl, Max-Jellinek Gasse 1/10/3, 1210 Wien, tel.: 011-43-1-954-5852, FAX (same), 11 Aug 2003 says that instead of "Buraner", the name was "Burauer", SRE, 26 Aug 2003.
-- In Diözesanarchiv, checked index for Heiligeneich of births 1742-1783. Found a Buraner, Mariana, p. 290. She is Marianna Buraner, dau. of Joh. Burauer. b. 8 May 1778, 7 am. His wife was Frantiska. Maiden name was Bankingerin? Also, found a Joseph Baldauf born, son of Johannes Baldauf and wife Sophia. Witnesses were Leopold Stögner, his wife Magdalena Halter, from Tallere. He was chr. 16 Mar. 1752. I'm guessing big time this could be the one. Will check to see if the family goes back further on.
-- Actually, BuraNer looks correct to me, not BuraUer. There is no "U-Bogen" over the U. So this needs to be changed. I'm looking at the original books in St. Pölten, SRE 8 Sep 2003.
-- Found a Baldauf born in Heiligeneich parish (Joseph), around the time Magdalena should have been born, and with father Johann. This is the only Baldauf listed in the index, and has precisely the name of her father. I think all we can do is assume they are the same person. No mention made of Magdalena, however, in the index. I am searching all births, page by page, in Heiligeneich, from 1760 (her approximate birth date) before and after, to see if I can find it. Also, this Joseph Baldauf was from Weinzierl, the exact village in Heiligeneich parish that our person comes from. I think this must be it, SRE 8 Sep 2003.

Johann BALDAUF

NOTES/LOG:
-- Listed by name as Johann Buraner, inhabitant at Weinzierl, Heiligeneich parish, in granddaughter, Magdalena's marriage entry. In all her other appearances in the parish registers, she is listed as Magdalena Baldauf(in). Both should be checked -- SRE, 28 May 2003.

RESIDENCE: Weinzierl, Heiligeneich parish. From marriage entry of Anna Maria Hasenzagl, granddaughter. From another granddaughter, sister of Anna Maria: Katharina, we have a marriage entry stating that her mother, Magdalena Baldauf, came from Schindlmühl, Pfarre Puchgenbach. I didn't find any Puchgenbach parish in either "Genealogisches Ortsverzeichnis Österreich" or "Matrikenbestände der röm-kath. Pfarren Niederösterreichs und Wiens." But I did find a Schindlmühl (1 of 2 in GOÖ), which was in Heiligenach parish -- SRE, 28 May 2003.
-- Report from Inge Höferl, Max-Jellinek Gasse 1/10/3, 1210 Wien, tel.: 011-43-1-954-5852, FAX (same), 11 Aug 2003 says that instead of "Buraner", the name was "Burauer", SRE, 26 Aug 2003.
-- Looking in Heiligeneich parish books and in index can't find any Baldauf marriages from 1742-1783 except ours. Will check Cronabether in this parish. Looks like there are tons of them. I'm going to start extracting, SRE 8 Sep 2003.

Johann ERNEST

B $Schiltern books. Not sure which parish.

NOTE: Research of Christopher Erben, Gallitzinstr. 7-13/6/5, A-1160 Wien, Austria dated 19 Nov 1999 states that Eisenbergeramt belonged to Gföhl parish before 1875. The parish records of 1797-1820 were burned when the parish offices burned. He believed that earlier church books belong perhaps to Meisling parish (not sure what the basis of this statement is -- why wouldn't it have still been a part of Gföhl parish?). He states that Gföhl parish books are not located in the Diözesanarchiv in St. Pölten: "Eisenbergeramt gehörte vor 1875 zur Pfarre Gföhl; die Matriken von 1797-1820 sind beim Pfarrhofbrand 1820 vernichtet worden. Frühere Matriken gehöhren vielleicht zur Pfarre Meisling. Die Matriken der Pfarre Gföhl befinden sich nicht im Diözesanarchiv St. Pölten, sondern direkt auf der Pfarre."
-- Am checking the Grundbuch über Mark Gföhl, book 2a in the Landesarchiv Außendepot in Bad Pirawarth, and am looking to see if Johann Ernest appears in any of them. Eisenbergeramt begins p. 517, Dienst, to p. 540. It looks like this is Eisengrabner Amt (not Eisenberger Amt), but it seems all are supposed to be in this book. If I have to look in a whole book just for one Amt, I should probably save these for last. I will spend time on marriages and then on wills. I'll have to ask the archivist about this later. Didn't find him, but gave up, because it was very time consuming, but these should be looked at, most defintely. Also, checked Inventursprotokolle, at least the first volume, v. 28, 1785-1790, I believe. Also, checked v. 18, 20-21 (1781-1789, 1798-1819) of Kauf- und Heiratsprotokollen. Didn't find mention of his family that I could connect to, though did find Ernest. If I could come here often and reconstruct everything, maybe I could get back further.
-- Also, check Grundbücher. This is the next best thing. See if it's possible to find who his successors were, with his property - possibly they are his parents, etc. Check with Felix Gundacker to see if Gewährbücher and Satzbücher would also be good. These are the only other records I haven't checked for Gföhl Bezirksgericht records -- SRE, 11 Sep 2003.

The important thing here is that houses 4-7, etc. until 1876 and the houses 11-29 until 1783 belonged to the Gföhl parish. So Schiltingeramt wouldn't be the only parish to check for our people, but also back to Gföhl again.
