Jakub VLADYKA

B Parish records at SOAT.

OCCUPATION: Shepherd. He is listed as "hamlknecht," who could have been a herder of horned cattle OR sheep. "Ovčák" in death record.

RESIDENCE: Čízová č. 9 at death. Born "z Kněžkladského ovčína" or Kněžeklady sheep fold.

Otilie HAUSSNEROVÁ

B Records obtained from SOAT.

NOTES:
-- Check for her first marriage before 1750 in Čížová. It`s possible she was married earlier than that. Archive report states that the name Haussner was not found in Čížová parish around 1750. Marriage of her to Václav Barczal in Čížová was searched for between 1750-1759. Nothing found. Births of possible children were also searched for there, up to 1759. No births found for Otilie and Václav Barczal - p. 4, Třeboň report of 9 Apr 1998 - SRE - 21 Oct 2000.
-- Search was done for her death in Čížová parish, as well as a 3rd marriage, nothing found - Třeboň archival report dated 9 Apr 1996, p. 4: "Zápis úmrtí Otilie Wladikové v matrikách zemřelých farního úřadu Čížová nalezen nebyl. Stejně tak nebyl v matrice oddaných farního úřadu Čízová nalezen zápis případného třetího sňatku ovdovělé Otilie, po roce 1771."

RESEARCH NOTE: NO SCHÖNSLEBENS LISTED BORN 1650-1738.
NEW RESEARCH NOTE: 18 JUL 2000. FOUND TWO CHILDREN IN NEIGHBORING PYHRA PARISH. THE FIRST ONE, BORN IN 1698 SHOWED THEM AS RESIDING IN MICHELBACH PARISH (PART OF WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE FHL PYHRA PARISH RECORDS) IN 1698. BY 1703, IT SHOWS THEM AS LIVING IN PÖSCHMÜLL. EARLIER CHECK FOR SCHÖNSLEBENS THERE YIELDS NO RESULTS. CHECK TO SEE IF MICHELBACH IS SEPARATE DURING THOSE YEARS, AND WHETHER SOMETHING CAN BE FOUND THERE.

LOG/NOTES:
-- It looks like I found him in Böheimkirchen. He marries an Eva Maria Weydinger (not Holtrauer). The only thing that bugs me is that we have "Eva Maria Holtrauer dau. of Balthazar Holtrauer and Johanne", presumably from her children's birth records in Kasten. But this Böheimkirchen record lists him as a widower, and we know that our Johann Adam Schönsleben had lost his first wife, Anna Weber, in June of that same year. This guy is getting married in September. Also, Johann Adam is not a super common name here. It really seems like this has to be our guy. It's just that this is Eva Maria Weydinger, dau. of Joseph and Anna Elisabeth Weydinger. How many records, I wonder, of kids' births in Kasten does it list Eva Maria's parents as Balthazar and Johanna Holtrauer. Or is that yet another wife?. The entry is as follows: "den 7. Sep 1734, alhier copuliert worden des Ehregeacher Johann Adam Schöhnsleben, Müllermaister und Wittiber an der Hofmühl, zu Fahrefeld [can you begin to see that this is our Johann Adam Schönsleben with 100% certainty?] mit der Tugentsamen Eva maria Weydingerin des Ehrgeachten Herr Joseph Weydinger, Mülner an der Cieglmühl alhier, Anna Elisabetha dessen Ehewührtin, ... ehelich erzozgten Tochter. Testes sponsi: Mathias Klemann, Ferdinand Hollender von Fahrefald. Sponsa: H. Alber Wedniger, Marttküster alhier, Herr Hanss George Lidacher, ... alhier." SRE, 9 Sep 2003.
-- Checked for kids of him in Böheimkirchen, but didn't find anything. Checked from before 1734 to 1743. It's interesting that we don't have any marriage information for the Eva Maria in Kasten who's having kids (our direct line). It is possible that Johann Adan could have married a 3rd wife in her own parish (i.e., not Kasten). But the circumstantial evidence is mounting up enough, that if I don't find a death for her in Kasten or Böheimkirchen, I'm going to go back on her line in Böheimkirchen and call it ours, SRE 9 Sep 2003.

Anna WEBER

D Died at Hostmuehl, in town of Fahrafeld.

NOTES/LOG:
-- Theresia Andruchowitz indicates that Lorenz Weber was Anna's former spouse, not father. When I did research there, I noted from the records that he was Anna's father and was listed as "still living". This should be double-checked -- SRE, 23 Aug 2002.

Paul MAYER

B $Schiltern books, marriage of child.

NOTE: Research of Christopher Erben, Gallitzinstr. 7-13/6/5, A-1160 Wien, Austria dated 19 Nov 1999 states that Eisenbergeramt belonged to Gföhl parish before 1875. The parish records of 1797-1820 were burned when the parish offices burned. He believed that earlier church books belong perhaps to Meisling parish (not sure what the basis of this statement is -- why wouldn't it have still been a part of Gföhl parish?). He states that Gföhl parish books are not located in the Diözesanarchiv in St. Pölten: "Eisenbergeramt gehörte vor 1875 zur Pfarre Gföhl; die Matriken von 1797-1820 sind beim Pfarrhofbrand 1820 vernichtet worden. Frühere Matriken gehöhren vielleicht zur Pfarre Meisling. Die Matriken der Pfarre Gföhl befinden sich nicht im Diözesanarchiv St. Pölten, sondern direkt auf der Pfarre." I believe he may also have said that Ollersbach parish registers weren't at the archive (although this should be checked out for sure).

NOTE: Also, from the same source, in regard to Schiltingeramt records, "Häuser 4-7, 9, 10, 32 bis 1876, Häuser 11-29 bis 1783 zur Pfarre Gföhl. Ich habe vorerst versucht, mehr aus die aus Schiltern/Schiltingeramt lebenden Personen womöglich das von Ihnen gesetzte Zeitlimit überschritten. Darüber hinaus befinden sich nur die Matriken aus Schiltern hier im Archiv." The important thing here is that houses 4-7, etc. until 1876 and the houses 11-29 until 1783 belonged to the Gföhl parish. So Schiltingeramt wouldn't be the only parish to check for our people, but also back to Gföhl again.

NOTE: Before you go to Austria, write to the archive for an inventory of all church books and get a Bewilligung for all those that are not accessible in the archive.

-- Found will in BG Gföhl 2/28, p. 190v. Will is partially destroyed. The part that is gone lists the heirs, but I do have their ages. He is supposed to have had 4 children: one age 12: ...n Mayer; one age 10: [Rosa?]lia; one aged 7: [Ma]thias; one aged 3: Joh. Georg. The book has just not been bound properly for so long that the edges have frayed to the point they are falling apart. The part of the page, where the first names of the kids were was gone. I'm going to search my Austrian name database and see how many names there are that end in "n". The others are pretty easy to tell, SRE, 11 Sep 2003.
-- Also, check Grundbücher. This is the next best thing. See if it's possible to find who his successors were with his property -- possibly they are his parents, etc. Check with Felix Gundacker to see if Gewährbücher and Satzbücher would also be good. These are the only other records I haven't checked for Gföhl Bezirksgericht records -- SRE, 11 Sep 2003.

...n MAYER

-- In trying to determine the sex of this individual (since all we have of his name is a final -n), I looked through my database of Austrian names of our relatives. There were over a thousand. Here are the names of all which end in -n:

Male: Sebastian, Kollman, Johann, Anton, Simon, Martin, Stefan, Bastian, Christian, Kevin (modern for Austria).
Female: Kathrin (modern - born 1992), Kerstin (modern)

From this, it can be inferred, that probably during the time period of birth of this individual (cal 1788), the likelihood that he was a female was highly unlikely, so I'm going to add him as a male, SRE, 11 Sep 2003.

Eva Maria WEYDINGER

-- Checked index of births for Böheimkirchen v. 1/3, 1673-1725, and found only two Eva Maria Weydinger's. The first had the wrong parents and was too early. This one is correct. Checked for her death in Kasten, 1733-1738, and found no evidence of death. Also, checked Böheimkirchen for death 1734-1737 (no index), found nothing. Have to assume that this is the person, SRE 10 Sep 2003.
-- See explanation below and in husband's notes of why I changed her name from Holtrauer with father Balthazar, to what it is in database now, SRE 9 Sep 2003.
-- I'VE FOUND OUT THAT THIS PERSON ACTUALLY HAS A DIFFERENT LAST NAME AND PARENTS. THIS IS THE NAME REPORTED IN ONE OR MORE OF HER CHILDREN'S BIRTHS. BUT I FOUND AN EVA MARIA WITH A DIFFERENT LAST NAME WHO MARRIED THIS EXACT MAN, BUT IN BÖHEIMKIRCHEN (SHE WAS NOT FOUND IN KASTEN, WHERE THE FAMILY LIVED). JOHANN ADAM MARRIED HER RIGHT AFTER HIS FIRST WIFE'S DEATH, AND THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BOTH EVA MARIA, JUST WITH ANOTHER LAST NAME (AND THE FACT THAT IN HER KIDS' BIRTH RECORDS, THAT WAS EVEN MORE REMOVED FROM THE ACTUAL FACT); THE FACT THAT I COULD NEVER FIND HER DEATH IN BÖHEIMKIRCHEN OR KASTEN (WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT JOHANN ADAM WAS MARRIED 3X: ONCE TO THE WEBER GIRL, WHEN SHE DIED TO THE EVA MARIA FROM BÖHEIMKIRCHEN, AND THEN TO THE EVA MARIA HOLTRAUER GIRL; THE FACT THAT THE DATES ALL SEEM TO LINE UP JUST LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE CORRECT LINE IS NOT ACTUALLY HOLTRAUER, SRE -- 10 Sep 2003.
-- May want to see if she had any other children in Kasten before 1737, when I first have record of them.

Georg UNTERBERGER

B $Schiltern books. Not sure which parish.
M Left wife a widow, who married later.

-- Didn't check for marriage in Böheimkirchen because of the distance to Schiltern area, SRE 9 Sep 2003.
-- Am checking for his marriage in the Heirtatsprotokoller in the Landesarchiv Niederösterreich, Außendepot, Bad Pirawarth. They only have a Heiratsprotokoll for 1781 at the earliest, so hopefully he falls into this category. The name is not Hinterberger, as was reported by a researcher, but rather Unterberger, as Roya and I originally found in the Schiltern parish records, SRE 11 Sep 2003.
-- Searched the Kauf- and Heiratsprotokoll books for his kids. Checked no. 18 (1781-1789), 20-21 (1798-1819) completely for index and found one child. I wanted to search no. 19 (1789-1797), but the first 20 p. and the index in the beginning were destroyed, along with much of the first 60 pages. I did search no. 19 for him and kids by hand to p. 76., then began at back of book and went back. Started at end of book and came up to p. 418. Have Felix Gundacker check from 77-418 for any further children of Georg - SRE, 11 Sep 2003.
-- Searched all wills (with indexes) for him v. 28-38 (1785-1847), but found nothing - SRE, 11 Sep 2003.
-- Also, check Grundbücher. This is the next best thing. See if it's possible to find who his successors were with his property - possibly they are his parents, etc. Check with Felix Gundacker to see if Gewährbücher and Satzbücher would also be good. -- Information about Sitzenberg locality from Felix Gundacker in e-mail 10 Dec 2002:

NÖ Landesarchives, in Bad Pirawarth.
